With a few skills (and maybe a bit of help), you can make a customized magnetic lap desk with a fabric-covered top and beanbag bottom. Lori Markovic's pattern has directions to make the lap desk from a purchased frame, fabric, Masonite and a sheet of steel. 16" x 12" shown.
